In the summer of 2014, after several years of performing at open mics, bar shows, and club showcases, I dove in and started producing my own stand-up comedy show. Teaming up with fellow comedian James Kennedy, we began co-hosting a show called Kings Head Comedy at the Kings Head in Kitsilano.

I took the lead on reaching out to comedians to book the show, our promotion strategy, and managing our social presence — including the creation of paid social media campaigns. It quickly became hugely successful, frequently selling out and gaining respect and admiration from comedians across the country. After just over a year, the show was featured as part of the “Best of the West” during the inaugural Just For Laughs Northwest comedy festival.

A couple of very successful years of the show couldn’t make up for the venue being mostly empty every other night of the week, so the Kings Head closed down and was sold. At that point, James and I teamed up with another comedian, Ryan Williams, and launched Full Pint Comedy at Granville Island Brewing.

Between these two shows, I’ve been lucky enough to have incredible comedians like Brent Butt (Corner Gas), Ivan Decker (Conan), K. Trevor Wilson (Letterkenny), and just about every great touring Canadian comedian in the country.
It’s a lot of fun and I want to do it for forever.
